Our History

PFFT! began organizing in 2011, when a group of food advocates started meeting at what we called “Food for Thought Sessions.”

These sessions provided a venue for community members to feed their minds with critical thinking and openly dialogue about improving healthy food access in the neighborhood.

After several “ Food for Thought Sessions” we began formulating our purpose, role in our community, and the actionable initiatives we wanted to implement to improve healthy food access in Pigtown.

Three interrelated priorities rose to the top :

   1. Improving healthy food access
   2.Improving healthy food awareness
   3. Raising awareness around food justice issues.

PFFT! runs on donations from our gardeners, community volunteers and grants.
